New Supporting Company Joins The Japanese Google Lunar XPRIZE Team HAKUTO

Tokyo, Japan – June 15, 2017 — Team HAKUTO, the only Japanese team competing for the Google Lunar XPRIZE, announced today that a new company has joined HAKUTO as a Supporting Company.

HAKUTO is supported by an Official Partner, who are co-leading the Google Lunar XPRIZE project “au×HAKUTO MOON CHALLENGE” with HAKUTO, Corporate Partners, who are supporting the project, and Supporting Companies, who are providing technical know-hows and other assistance to HAKUTO. The new Supporting Companies announced today will provide the following technologies and know-hows:

Team HAKUTO, run by the Japanese startup ispace, Inc., is the only Japanese team competing for the Google Lunar XPRIZE. The $30M Google Lunar XPRIZE is an unprecedented competition to challenge and inspire engineers and entrepreneurs from around the world to develop low-cost methods of robotic space exploration. To win the Google Lunar XPRIZE, a privately funded team must successfully place a robot on the Moon’s surface that explores at least 500 meters and transmits high-definition video and images back to Earth, before the mission deadline of December 31, 2017.
